New York Workers Continue to Face Serious Vehicle-Related Hazards

Transportation accidents represent the fifth-most common cause of injuries for workers in the United States. These accidents involve moving vehicles, and they are much more common than many people realize. A recent string of related accidents in New York shows just how harmful these accidents can be, and you might be surprised at the types of vehicles involved. Even though transportation accidents are not the most common cause of injury for workers, the resulting injuries may be especially traumatic and disabling. The number-one cause of injury for workers is overexertion, and these injuries are nowhere near as traumatic as an auto collision in most cases. Injured victims should always consider their legal options after workplace accidents and file workers’ comp claims if possible.

Airline Worker Injured as Plane Emergency Slide Deploys Mid-Flight

A worker was injured by the slide, and their injuries were serious enough to warrant hospitalization.

Construction Worker Killed by Dump Truck in Pembroke

On June 7, it was reported that a construction worker had lost their life due to a dump truck collision on I-90 West in Pembroke. This worker was apparently run over by the reversing dump truck – an incident that is surprisingly common among construction workers. With so much noise and distraction in the average construction site, workers are sometimes unaware of nearby reversing vehicles. These might include dump trucks, excavators, forklifts, pickup trucks, etc. This particular incident is still under investigation and will likely result in a wrongful death workers’ comp claim filed by the surviving family members.
